Calligraphy by Fred Salmon.
This combination of humanistic and italic hands highlights the proficiency of Fred's calligraphy. As a great admirer of Hermann Zapf there is no doubt that "a little drop of heartblood" is a treasure found within all of Fred's pieces.
The gouache flourished decoration at the top on the original contains two small gilded accents. These will appear as you see them here but are not gilded but instead a photographic reproduction of the original gilding.
